What is my decimal grade?

You’ve received your transcripts, but what do all these P’s and Q’s actually mean? Depending on when you took a course at 网赌正规真人实体在线平台, letter grades may have different meanings. Use the Grading Legend to determine what decimal grade and corresponding letter grade you have earned in your classes at 网赌正规真人实体在线平台. The grading legends are separated by time periods in which changes were made.

Summer 2020 to Present

Use this legend if the course in question was taken between Summer 2020 and the current quarter.

  • Decimal Grade of 3.8 to 4.0 corresponds to Letter Grade A

  • Decimal Grade of 3.5 to 3.7 corresponds to Letter Grade A-

  • Decimal Grade of 3.2 to 3.4 corresponds to Letter Grade B+

  • Decimal Grade of 2.9 to 3.1 corresponds to Letter Grade B

  • Decimal Grade of 2.6 to 2.8 corresponds to Letter Grade B-

  • Decimal Grade of 2.3 to 2.5 corresponds to Letter Grade C+

  • Decimal Grade of 2.0 to 2.2 corresponds to Letter Grade C

  • Decimal Grade of 1.6 to 1.9 corresponds to Letter Grade C-

  • Decimal Grade of 1.3 to 1.5 corresponds to Letter Grade D+

  • Decimal Grade of 1.0 to 1.2 corresponds to Letter Grade D

  • Decimal Grade of 0.0 to 0.9 corresponds to Letter Grade F

Addition to the grading legend:

R = Repeated Course: An "R" showing beside a grade indicates the course was repeated and is no longer calculated in the GPA.

* = Grade Forgiven: Student has petitioned to "set aside" (forgive) grade record. This grade is no longer calculated in the GPA.

Z = Not successful in completing requirements in buy time options, clinicals, cooperative work education programs, practicum, workshops and courses number 99 and below. Grade points are not calculated for this grade.

Y = No grade reported

Course numbering:

For transcripts printed online, three-digit course numbering is used. The first three digits indicate the actual course number. Generally the last digit indicates the type of course, with lecture courses ending in 0 and lab courses ending in 1.

Common course numbering:

A course with "&" is common among Washington State Community & Technical Colleges with the same course.

Fall 1989 to Spring 2020

Use this legend if the course in question was taken between Fall 1989 and Spring 2020.

  • Decimal Grade of 3.8 to 4.0 corresponds to Letter Grade A
  • Decimal Grade of 3.5 to 3.7 corresponds to Letter Grade A-
  • Decimal Grade of 3.2 to 3.4 corresponds to Letter Grade B+
  • Decimal Grade of 2.9 to 3.1 corresponds to Letter Grade B
  • Decimal Grade of 2.6 to 2.8 corresponds to Letter Grade B-
  • Decimal Grade of 2.3 to 2.5 corresponds to Letter Grade C+

Academic probation and suspension:

Full-time students who fail to complete 10 credit hours and/or achieve a GPA of at least 2.0 may be placed on probation. Students on probation for three or more consecutive quarters are subject to suspension. Students who transfer to Columbia Basin College on academic probation or suspension will be permitted to enter on probationary status only.

Course numbering:

Use this legend if the course in question was taken between Fall 1983 to Summer 1989.

  • Letter Grade A is defined as High Competence, and corresponds with 4 grade points per credit hour.
  • Letter Grade B is defined as Good Competence, and corresponds with 3 grade points per credit hour.
  • Letter Grade C is defined as Moderate Competence, and corresponds with 2 grade points per credit hour.
  • Letter Grade D is defined as Minimum Competence, and corresponds with 1 grade point per credit hour.
  • Letter Grade F is defined as Failing, and corresponds with 0 grade points per credit hour.
  • Letter Grade N is defined as Non-Credit (Audit), and corresponds with no grade points per credit hour.
  • Letter Grade P is defined as Passing. No grade points are calculated for this grade, but course(s) may be used to satisfy graduation requirements.
  • Letter Grade I is defined as Incomplete Work, and corresponds with no grade points per credit hour. An “I” grade will be changed to an “F” if the makeup work is not completed within the first 20 calendar days of the succeeding quarter. Exception is when the “I” grade is given in the spring quarter, the succeeding quarter is the following fall quarter.
  • Letter Grade W is defined as Official Withdrawal, and corresponds with no grade points per credit hour. Withdrawal after the 40th day of class will appear as an “F” rather than a “W”.

 

Summer 1978 to Summer 1983

Use this legend if the course in question was taken between Summer 1978 and Summer 1983.

  • Letter Grade A is defined as High Competence, and corresponds with 4 grade points per credit hour.
  • Letter Grade B is defined as Good Competence, and corresponds with 3 grade points per credit hour.
  • Letter Grade C is defined as Moderate Competence, and corresponds with 2 grade points per credit hour.
  • Letter Grade D is defined as Minimum Competence, and corresponds with 1 grade point per credit hour.
  • Letter Grade Z is defined as No Credit. Credits are not computed in GPA. The “Z” grade symbol was used for non-completion of a course; failure, withdrawal, incomplete or any other reason for not fulfilling the instructor’s established minimum standards.
  • Letter Grade N is defined as Audit. Credits are not computed in GPA.
  • Letter Grade S is defined as Satisfactory Performance. Credits are not computed in GPA.

     

     

     

     

Fall 1977 to Spring 1978

Use this legend if the course in question was taken between Fall 1977 and Spring 1978.

  • Letter Grade A is defined as High Competence, and corresponds with 4 grade points per credit hour.
  • Letter Grade B is defined as Good Competence, and corresponds with 3 grade points per credit hour.
  • Letter Grade C is defined as Moderate Competence, and corresponds with 2 grade points per credit hour.
  • Letter Grade D is defined as Minimum Competence, and corresponds with 1 grade point per credit hour.
  • Letter Grade F is defined as Failing, and corresponds with 0 grade points per credit hour.
  • Letter Grade Q is defined as Non-Credit (Audit), and corresponds with no grade points per credit hour.
  • Letter Grade P is defined as Passing. No grade points are calculated for this grade, but course(s) may be used to satisfy graduation requirements.

Summer 1974 to Summer 1977

Use this legend if the course in question was taken between Fall 1977 and Spring 1978.

  • Letter Grade A is defined as High Competence, and corresponds with 4 grade points per credit hour.
  • Letter Grade B is defined as Good Competence, and corresponds with 3 grade points per credit hour.
  • Letter Grade C is defined as Moderate Competence, and corresponds with 2 grade points per credit hour.
  • Letter Grade D is defined as Minimum Competence, and corresponds with 1 grade point per credit hour.
  • Letter Grade P is defined as Passing.  No grade points are calculated for this grade, but course(s) may be used to satisfy graduation requirements.
  • Letter Grade Q is defined as Non-Credit (Audit), and corresponds with no grade points per credit hour.
  • Columbia Basin College, in keeping with its announced policy of placing top priority on the welfare of its students, adopted a grading system which emphasizes achievement rather than failure. This policy permitted the permanent recording of those grades indicating successful completion of a course, but did not record a grade when, for whatever reason, a student was unable to fulfill the minimum requirements of the course. The grade of W (withdrawal), I (incomplete) and F (failing) was no longer entered on permanent records. A letter grade was awarded when an incomplete has been officially made up.

 

Summer 1969 to Spring 1974

Use this legend if the course in question was taken between Summer 1969 and Spring 1974.

  • Letter Grade A is defined as High Competence, and corresponds with 4 grade points per credit hour.
  • Letter Grade B is defined as Good Competence, and corresponds with 3 grade points per credit hour.
  • Letter Grade C is defined as Moderate Competence, and corresponds with 2 grade points per credit hour.
  • Letter Grade D is defined as Minimum Competence, and corresponds with 1 grade point per credit hour.
  • Letter Grade P is defined as Passing. No grade points are calculated for this grade, but course(s) may be used to satisfy graduation requirements.
  • Letter Grade Q is defined as Non-Credit (Audit), and corresponds with no grade points per credit hour.
  • An asterisk (*) was used to indicate non-completion of course requirements owing to withdrawal, non-makeup of incompletes, and below passing work. The asterisk replaced the traditional I, W and F designations.

 

Prior to Summer 1969

Use this legend if the course in question was taken prior to Summer 1969.

  • Letter Grade A is defined as High Competence, and corresponds with 4 grade points per credit hour.
  • Letter Grade B is defined as Good Competence, and corresponds with 3 grade points per credit hour.
  • Letter Grade C is defined as Moderate Competence, and corresponds with 2 grade points per credit hour.
  • Letter Grade D is defined as Minimum Competence, and corresponds with 1 grade point per credit hour.
  • Letter Grade F is defined as Failing, and corresponds with 0 grade points per credit hour.
